Valberg Fan Review from Electro Depot: Our Feedback After Several Weeks of Use

Plugging in a fan for under 50 euros at the end of June, in an attic office where the thermometer never drops, is the kind of test that doesn’t lie. We used the Valberg U-GO-Fresh standing fan, sold exclusively at Electro Depot, for several weeks in real conditions: remote work days, open window nights, living room in the full afternoon.

Noise level of the Valberg fan: what the low speeds are like at night

The first instinct when receiving a budget fan is to turn it up to the max. The Valberg U-GO-Fresh offers eight speeds, and on the first three, the airflow remains discreet, around the advertised threshold of 38 dB. This is sufficient for sleeping in a quiet room without earplugs.

Beyond speed 5, the noise increases significantly. You can also hear a slight rattling during oscillation, a common flaw in entry-level models reported by many users on specialized forums. For a child’s room or a daytime nap, it is recommended to stay on the first four speeds and turn off the oscillation.

We published a review of the Valberg fan at Electro Depot that details the acoustic comfort measurements based on the modes used.

On paper, eight speeds suggest that you can finely modulate the airflow. In practice, the difference between speeds 6, 7, and 8 is barely perceptible. The real jump occurs between speed 3 and speed 5, where the airflow becomes truly effective.

In a living room of about twenty square meters, the Valberg adequately covers the seating area up to about three meters. Beyond that, the airflow disperses. For a larger room, it needs to be positioned higher or you must accept that it circulates air without really cooling distant areas.

Oscillation and airflow direction

The oscillation covers a sufficient angle to sweep a three-seater sofa. The tilt of the head is adjusted manually, allowing you to direct the air upward if the fan is placed on the floor. The remote control avoids the need to get up, a detail that makes a difference in the middle of the night when you want to reduce the power without leaving the bed.

Value for money of the Valberg compared to competing tower and standing fans

Sold for under 50 euros, the Valberg U-GO-Fresh competes against tower fans that are often more expensive but with lower airflow. A similarly priced tower fan generally pushes less air and heats up more during use because the motor is enclosed in a narrow casing.

The standing format remains the best compromise for home ventilation when the budget is tight. Here’s what the Valberg does better than most of its direct competitors:

  • Eight speeds compared to three or four on classic entry-level models, offering real adjustment granularity
  • An advertised noise level of 38 dB in minimum mode, where many competitors exceed 45 dB from the first speed
  • A remote control included in the price, often charged extra or absent on fans under 50 euros

However, the build quality remains that of an entry-level device. The plastics are thin, and the finishes are basic. This is not a product designed to last ten years.

Durability and Electro Depot customer service: the weak point to anticipate

Valberg is a private label brand owned by Electro Depot. This means that customer service is handled exclusively by the store. However, customer feedback on Electro Depot’s customer service is often mixed, particularly regarding response times and the availability of spare parts.

European regulations are pushing manufacturers towards greater transparency on reparability and the availability of parts. In this area, private label brands like Valberg do not yet systematically display these indicators. In practical terms, if the motor fails after the two-year warranty, finding a replacement part can be a real challenge.

What we would do differently

Keep the receipt and test the device intensively during the first 14 days. If a rattling appears or if a speed does not work properly, this is the time to assert your return. After this period, options are limited to the manufacturer’s warranty, and returns vary on this point depending on the stores.

  • Check the oscillation right after unpacking: this is the mechanism that wears out the fastest on this type of device
  • Test all speeds via the remote control to confirm that each level responds
  • Keep the original packaging for at least a month, in case a return is necessary

Valberg U-GO-Fresh fan: for whom and under what conditions

This fan is perfectly suited for seasonal use in a medium-sized room. For remote work during the day, the intermediate speeds offer a good compromise between air circulation and discretion. For a bedroom at night, the low speeds deliver on their promise of relative silence, provided you deactivate the oscillation.

It will not replace a high-end fan or a portable air conditioner. But for the price of a meal at a restaurant, you get a functional device, deliverable via drive in under an hour at most Electro Depot stores. The Valberg U-GO-Fresh does exactly what you expect from a budget standing fan, no more, no less.
